Evansville ARC - Independent Lives for People with Disabilities

On-Site Clinic for Employees

Evansville ARC is the first not-for-profit organization in the area to open an on-site medical clinic to provide employees with comprehensive primary care focusing on prevention and helping sustain health. The clinic is designed to provide services for employees and their dependents that are currently on Evansville ARC’s medical insurance. The on-site medical clinic is managed by Tri-State Community Clinics, LLC.

An open house was held on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at Evansville ARC’s location at 2515 Kotter Avenue, which is the site of the clinic and Evansville ARC’s manufacturing facility, ARC Industries.

Ribbon Cutting

Evansville ARC made the decision to open this clinic after exploring innovative ways to provide high-quality benefits to employees and their dependents in light of ongoing cuts in State funding. Evansville ARC believes that the addition of the clinic will help to reduce the increasing costs of its employee medical plan and improve employees’ health.

Joseph Neidig, CEO of Tri-State Community Clinics, LLC relayed a message of thanks. “It is our sincere honor to partner with the leadership and people of Evansville ARC. This non-profit has always served a great mission within our community, and they clearly demonstrate leadership with their focus on health by providing this benefit to their team. The Tri-State Community Clinic team is delighted with the response to date in serving the people of Evansville ARC. We truly want to make a lasting difference on the health of our community.”

Clinic Opening

When employees and their dependents that are on Evansville ARC’s medical insurance visit the clinic, they are not charged for their visit. The following services are provided at no cost to the employees: treatment from a physician or a family nurse practitioner, diagnostic tests and labs, non-narcotic drugs and generic prescriptions, and wellness advice. The clinic is not intended to replace the care received by the employee’s family physician. However, Evansville ARC does hope that the clinic will encourage employees to be more proactive about their health since they are able to get the medical treatment at no cost. Examples of covered services include acute illnesses such as colds and flu, chronic illnesses such as diabetes and heart disease, weight loss advice, smoking cessation, and general wellness.

In addition, the clinic makes it more convenient for employees to make an appointment when they have a medical need. Currently, the clinic is open six hours a week. The hours of operation are designed to accommodate the varying work schedules of Evansville ARC’s nearly 180 staff members. At this time, the clinic is open from 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday mornings and from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday afternoons. Staff members call a toll free number to reach a Tri-State Community Clinics’ staff member to schedule an appointment. Appointments generally last 20 minutes; however, the time in the waiting room is very minimal. Therefore, employees are missing very little, if any, work because in many instances, they are able to schedule the appointments before or after their scheduled workday.

According to Deidra R. Conner, President of Evansville ARC, “We are thrilled to be able to provide this service to our employees. We believe it is very important to provide quality, affordable benefits to attract and retain a top-notch workforce. We also believe healthy employees are happier and more productive employees.”
